    2025 WHL Claude Lenfant Excellence Award Granted to Dr. Nizal Sarrafzadegan

    We are honored to announce that Dr. Nizal Sarrafzadegan, Director of the Isfahan Cardiovascular Research Institute, has been awarded the prestigious 2025 WHL Claude Lenfant Excellence Award by the World Hypertension League (WHL).

    This biennial award is one of the WHL’s highest international honors, given to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the prevention and control of hypertension at global, regional, or national levels.

    The Cardiovascular Research Institute (Isfahan Cardiovascular Research Center), in collaboration with international and regional organizations,  hosted the first session of a two-day  educational  webinar in the EMRO region  on June 16, titled: "The Role of Lifestyle Medicine in Treatment, Regression, and Prevention of NCDs".

    World Hypertension Day 2025 Commemoration

    Given the importance of preventing, controlling, and treating hypertension—and the significant role this risk factor plays in the development of cardiovascular diseases—the World Health Organization (WHO) has designated May 17 (Ordibehesht 27) each year as World Hypertension Day. In recent years, this global observance has been held under the slogan:

    "Measure Your Blood Pressure Accurately, Control It, Live Longer."

  • Distinguished CRI researchers listed among World’s top 2% scientists

    Thirty members of the Isfahan University of Medical Sciences are ranked as the World's Top 2% scientists 2023 by Stanford University. It is an immense pride feeling to share that four of these scientists are affiliated with Cardiovascular Research Institute, Isfahan University of Medical Sciences, Isfahan, Iran:
    Professor Nizal Sarrafzadegan, Dr Noushin Mohammadifard, Professor Sedigheh Asgari, Professor Masoumeh Sadeghi.
    This ranking is performed by Stanford University according to the Scopus metrics.

  • World Heart Day in Isfahan -Iran (2023)

    Simultaneous with the World Heart Day (29 Sep-7th Mehr 1402), a ceremony with the slogan of “USE HEART, KNOW HEART” was held by the   Iranian Heart Foundation (IHF) with collaboration of Isfahan Cardiovascular Research Institute (ICRI) and SHAHID CHAMRAN hospital, Isfahan University of Medical Science, Iran.

  • Updating the Guideline for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Hypertension, November 2022

    The first version of the national guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of high blood pressure was developed in 2010, and updated in 2013.

  • WORLD HEART DAY, 2021

    In 2021, as in the previous years, training activities related to World Heart Day were held for a week under the title of Isfahan World Heart Week.

    The focus of World Heart Week was the COVID-19 pandemic, vaccination and continued prevention efforts, its complications, and effects on cardiovascular disease, familial hypercholesterolemia, and awareness of lifestyle modification to prevent and control cardiovascular disease and hypertension.

  • Start of the project to update the national hypertensive guideline

    Today, the volume of scientific information is increasing so rapidly that more than 80 clinical and systematic trials are published daily in the world. Managing the growing volume of information and using it to make the best clinical decisions requires keeping existing resources up to date, especially clinical guidelines.

  • Start of Project Preparation of the National Guideline for Acute Coronary Syndrome

    The first meeting of the Acute Coronary Syndrome Guideline (ACS) preparation group was held virtually on Wednesday, July 2, 2021, and the first phase of the project officially began. The main purpose of this guideline is to optimize the patients' care with the acute coronary syndrome.

  • Title: Preparation of cardiovascular research puzzle

    Since March 2021, the necessary measures have been taken by this center to prepare research puzzles. Then, a webinar entitled: “Research Puzzles: A Practical Solution for Coherence in Research in the Country” were held on June 9, 2021, for research and technology vice-chancellors of universities and heads of research centers, research institutes, and research networks with the speech of Prof. Nizal Sarrafzadegan. After that, the final report on the preparation of research puzzles was prepared and sent to the Deputy Minister of Research and Technology.
